Adyar sits between the Adyar river and Besant Nagar in south Chennai, a largely residential area of independent houses and older apartment blocks around Gandhi Nagar and the bus depot. We collect electronic waste from Adyar free of charge and pay on the spot for anything with recoverable value. Adyar is a short run from our Velachery centre. The constraint here is rarely distance — it is parking and access. Many of the older streets are narrow and several of the apartment blocks have no lift, so tell us the floor when you book and we will send enough people to carry rather than one driver who cannot.

Adyar produces the deepest household clearances we see. These are homes that have been lived in for decades, so a single collection often turns up a working CRT television, a defunct desktop from the early 2000s, a stack of obsolete set-top boxes, an old inverter with its battery, and a box of cables nobody could throw away. Clearances after a house sale or a move are common here and tend to be large.

A lot of Adyar collections are booked by someone clearing a parent's or grandparent's home, often under time pressure and often from another city. If that is the situation, we can survey by photographs on WhatsApp and give you an indicative figure before you travel, so you are not deciding on the day with a van already outside.
